Hello all, I just found this site thanks to Shannon at the Gazette. I own Serenity Springs Day Spa & Salon. I would just like to let some of my neighbors know about a evening that a good friend of mine, Patty Miller and I are trying to put together, if you know of anyone that might enjoy this idea, please let me know. A dear friend of our "family" at the spa is sick with cancer. When she decided that her sparatic hairloss from her Chemotherapy was to much she asked one of our stylists and dear friends to come to her home because she was to anxious about it to come in front of people. We thought to turn this into something positive and reach out to others like our friend. So we are wanting to put together a sort of "spoiling night" for others like our friend, and to become our friend and meet other friends going through the same thing. Of course this would be a special CLOSED night for our friends that are in our "clique" for the event. We think it would really make a difference in such a hard time in peoples lives if we could bring people together sharing the same hardships and really make them feel beautiful when its so easy not to. So if anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how we can make this take off even if its only for a few people.. its a few more that wouldnt have to cry in their own bathrooms alone!!! Thank you for reading.

Lots of un-neutered cats out this way. Are there lots of rentals and people moving and just leaving them to fend for themself?

Morning Linda~ It could have been KCSB. "Keep Colorado Springs Beautiful". They are a non-profit and do a LOT of loose trash pick up around the city. They are granted monies from various sources and have many volunteers around town. I could certainly provide you with the number to them if you had questions.

Linda, I'm not from here, either, but do know the state is replete with prisons. I'm not the authority on this, but I think some prison sentences might be reduced if you do a certain number of community service hours and this may have been qualifying community service hours. Not hardened criminals, but people found guilty of passing bad checks, shoplifting, DUI and that kind of thing. Just a guess!

Driving on Powers I saw two different areas being picked up of trash. There was a van/truck with a gentleman sitting in it and then one group was all men and the other was all women. Does anyone know if these were prisoners doing the clean up? I'm from Florida where they make the prisoners work and do road clean up and I think it's a great idea!

Hey anyone see the really cute gourmet cupcakes lately? Well First & Main Town Center will be getting our own cute-as-can-be cupcake store. No easy bake oven required! LOL

Hi Anne,
Contact Stephanie Merchant Johnson, who is a member on this site. You can find her by entering her name in the search tool in the top-right corner of this page. Her profile will come up and you can send her a message from there. I'll also let her know you are looking for a group. She had one going out there for some time.

Is there a writing group that meets in the Powers corridor or near it?

Victoria, I personally think the location is alright. Maybe people don't like taking a couple minutes extra to get there, since you have to turn onto Tutt or go through the King Soopers shopping area first. Many businessess on Powers is like that--one way in and one way out, which is inconvenient for some.

So - what's the story with the closure of East Coast Deli out on Powers / Stetson Hills...? Seems like that location has turned over restaurants a few times now?
